Setting up your store

One of the most important things you'll have to do, is setting up your Store settings properly. These are the configurations that will allow you to automate selling to customers, allowing you to focus on managing your business & website - not worrying about individual orders.

To get started, you'll want to go to the Settings area of ShoutCMS, and go through the items in the Store column.

Take your time

There are numerous fields that should be filled out correctly and accurately, so it's important that you take your time while you set up your store. Make sure you double-check to make sure the information you've added is up to date and correct.

Shipping & Payment Processors

You will be required to link your shipping & Payment Processor accounts to the respective parts of your Store settings.

Updating your information

You can update and adjust your information at any time if needed. However, just make sure you double-check that the new information is correct.

Creating products

You can either create a new product from scratch, a template, or an import. Depending on what you're selling, you might want to pick a particular method that aligns with the time & energy you can spend on maintaining your online store.

For larger ShoutCMS sites, you'll likely want to be importing your products from a spreadsheet into your Online Store. For smaller sites, you might want to spend a little more time on each product - either creating them from scratch or from a template.

From scratch

Simply use the Create button from the Website area of ShoutCMS to get started. You'll then be able to add all of your product information and page content to your product page. Make sure you fill out all of the fields that pertain to your product before setting the page to be Live (you can set it to Hidden and work on it over time if needed).

Here are some key fields you want to fill out before publishing your product:

1. Product Name
2. Short Summary
3. Product Price
4. Featured Image
5. Shipping Information
6. SEO Information

Using templates

You can speed up the product creation process by creating and using templates within ShoutCMS. Through Snippets, you can assemble designs for your pages, dragging them onto new product pages you're working on. Alternatively, you can also Clone pages, by selecting the Clone option on a product, article, or page in ShoutCMS.

Doing a product import

From the Store area of ShoutCMS, you can use the Create button to import products. Follow the instructions provided, and upload your spreadsheet when you've added all of your product information. This will create the products you're uploading across your site in the areas you've specified.

Creating promotions

ShoutCMS lets you create, edit, and remove promotions at any time with your Online Store. These are discounts applied to products, which you can customize depending on the deal or offer you are promoting.

Creating a new promotion

You can create a new promotion by navigating to Promotions (located under Store in the ShoutCMS navigation). Use the Create button to begin adding a new promotion to your website.

These are some fields you'll want to fill out regarding your new promotion:

1. Product name - This appears next to the discounted price
2. Applies to - Which products the promotion will be discounting
3. Active - If the promotion is live or not
4. Discount - The value of the discount
5. Customers - Who is eligible for this promotion

Keep in mind, your promotion will only be visible to the customers eligible for your discount.

Managing products

You'll likely be updating your products over time, which can be done whenever you need to with ShoutCMS. Simply visit the product inside of ShoutCMS, and adjust it as needed (saving the product page when you're finished).

Updating product information

If any of your product information needs to be updated, you can do so within the Options area of the product page. Make sure you save the product page when you are finished making changes.

You can also update the location of your products, in case you need to adjust where the products appear for your customers.

Changing product imagery

If you are using the Page Gallery, you can upload, delete, and reorder gallery images at any time. The Featured Image is the thumbnail for the page.

2. Include lifestyle imagery if possible

Updating product page content

Just like any other type of page information, you can replace, modify, and remove any outdated or unnecessary content at any time.
